Founded in 1939, the MBTA is a non-partisan voice for investment in a safe, efficient transportation network for Maine. With 700 members representing municipalities, businesses and individuals from all walks of life, we advocate for funding of a multimodal transportation system – air, roads, rail, port, transit, bicycle and pedestrian facilities – to serve communities and citizens throughout the state.

Most Maine transportation gets poor grades: Maine Section ASCE has released its latest Report Card for Maine's Infrastructure yesterday. Maine roads get a "D," bridges and passenger transportation "C-" and railroads a "C."
The cost of bad roads in Maine is on the rise: A recent report by The Road Information Program (TRIP) finds Mainers spend an average of $299 a year due to bad roads. That's an increase of 30% since 2009.
