Aroostook County Meeting, this Thursday, Aug. 2
David Fernald to speak on ‘Airport Challenges and Opportunities’
Please plan on joining the MBTA as we head to Presque Isle for our annual  Aroostook County meeting this Thursday, August 2, at the Northeastland Hotel.

The topic: Maine has 36 regional airports, and like our highways and bridges, they face major challenges ahead. David Fernald, president of the Maine Airport Managers Association and manager of the Northern Aroostook Regional Airport, will talk about some of the hot button issues facing Maine's regional airports.

There is still time to reserve. The reception starts at 5 p.m.; the dinner and program at 6. Please call the MBTA office ASAP at 207-622-0526 or e-mail deanna@mbtaonline.org.

MBTA Fall Convention returns to the Samoset
Save your space! Register by August 14!

The MBTA Fall Convention returns to the Samoset Resort in Rockport this September 14-16.

The Convention Committee has a great program planned – from the Volley Ball Tournament and Grand Opening Reception that will kick off the weekend on Friday to the Saturday evening reception, dinner and entertainment by Laughing Stock Comedy Company. There are many activities throughout the weekend: bocce, kayaking, cribbage, the golf tournament, a trolley tour, the silent and live auctions (that benefit the Infrastructure Development Fund) and more. The MBTA and Samoset Resort also have a slate of fun activities planned for the kids.

Please note: to secure the special convention room rate at the resort, you have to sign up by August 14.

Please check out the Convention packet that was e-mailed to you last week, or visit the web site, www.mbtaonline.org/events.htm, for registration forms and information. Be sure to watch for the MBTA Educational Foundation raffle tickets that were sent to you in the mail, too! We will announce the winners at the convention dinner on Saturday, September 15.

Calling all nominations!

Do you know someone who has made a lifetime contribution to transportation development in Maine? We need to hear about it.

This fall, the MBTA will host the 11th Maine Transportation Achievement Awards, Friday, November 2 in Augusta. Please look for the nomination form in your mailbox or download it online at  the MBTA events page.
